Day 22 of Her New Beginning: 31 Days of Healing, Identity, Renewal and Purpose
Ephesians 2:10 KJV
“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”
There comes a point in a woman’s journey when healing must begin to answer a new question. After God has been restoring your heart, renewing your mind and teaching you to see yourself differently, what are you going to do with the woman who is emerging?
Healing is not the final destination. God does not restore us merely so that we can spend the rest of our lives admiring how much better we feel. Renewal prepares us to live again, love again, serve again and participate intentionally in what God is doing through our lives. This is where purpose enters the conversation.
The word purpose can sound enormous. We hear it and immediately imagine a microphone, a ministry, a successful company, a large platform or something impressive enough to place in a biography. If we are not careful, we can make purpose so spectacular that an ordinary woman begins wondering whether she has one.
Yet Ephesians 2:10 brings us somewhere much deeper: “For we are his workmanship.”
Before Scripture tells us what we are supposed to do, it tells us whose workmanship we are.
That order matters.
Purpose Begins With the One Who Made You
You are God’s workmanship before you are anybody’s wife, mother, employee, employer, leader, friend or helper. Your purpose does not begin with a title someone gives you. It begins with the intention of the One who created you.
The word workmanship carries the idea of something made, fashioned or produced. In other words, your life is not presented in Scripture as an accident looking for something useful to do. There is divine intention behind your existence.
Psalm 139:16 says:
“Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written…”
God saw you before people formed opinions about you.
Before anyone decided whether you were talented enough, beautiful enough, educated enough or important enough, you were already known by God.
That matters because many women begin searching for purpose from the wrong starting point. We begin with comparison. We look at what another woman is doing and ask why our lives do not look like hers. She has a business, so perhaps I need a business. She is preaching, so perhaps I should preach. She has written a book, and suddenly I am staring at an empty document wondering whether I have secretly been an author all these years.
There is nothing wrong with being inspired by another woman. The problem begins when inspiration becomes imitation.
Purpose is discovered before God, not copied from somebody else’s life.
You Were Created in Christ Jesus Unto Good Works
Ephesians 2:10 continues by saying we were “created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”
Notice the language: walk in them.
Purpose is not merely something you announce. It is something you walk in.
Sometimes we are waiting for one dramatic moment when God reveals our entire future. We would love Heaven to send us a beautifully organised document titled Your Complete Purpose, preferably with dates, locations, budgets and a section explaining what to do when people become difficult.
Usually, God leads differently.
He gives light for the next step.
Abraham was told to leave his country and go to a land God would show him. Peter heard, “Follow me.” Ruth made one faithful decision and found herself walking into a future she could not have predicted.
Purpose often becomes clearer while we are moving with God.
This is why you should not become paralysed because you cannot explain your entire assignment yet. What is God placing in front of you now? What responsibility is already in your hands? What burden continually moves your heart? What gift keeps appearing? Where do people repeatedly experience grace through your life?
Sometimes the clues to tomorrow’s assignment are hidden inside today’s obedience.
Purpose Is Bigger Than a Platform
We also need to rescue purpose from our obsession with visibility.
Not everything important happens publicly.
A woman praying consistently for her children may be shaping generations. A teacher who sees potential in a child everyone else has overlooked may alter the direction of that child’s life. A woman who mentors another woman through a difficult season may never receive public recognition, but Heaven does not measure significance by social media reach.
Jesus spent years in relative obscurity before His public ministry. David learned to worship, fight and care for sheep before anybody called him king. Moses spent years in Midian before returning to Egypt.
Hidden does not mean useless.
There are seasons when God develops the woman before enlarging the assignment. Character must sometimes grow strong enough to carry what gifting can attract.
This is why purpose is not simply about asking, “How far can I go?” We must also ask, “Who am I becoming while I go there?”
If the assignment grows while character shrinks, success can become dangerous.
Your Story Can Serve Your Purpose
There are parts of your life you may have considered interruptions to purpose that God can eventually weave into it.
Moses’ years in Pharaoh’s house gave him an understanding of Egypt. His wilderness years taught him another kind of life. Joseph’s journey through betrayal, slavery and prison developed something in the man who would later administer resources during famine.
This does not mean every painful experience was sent by God. We should never call evil good simply because God is able to redeem it. But redemption means that what happened to you does not automatically have to be wasted.
The wisdom you gained can serve someone.
The compassion born from what you survived can become ministry.
The lesson you learned through failure may become the wisdom with which you build successfully later.
The woman who once needed encouragement may become the woman who knows exactly how to sit beside someone else without judging her unfinished story.
God has an extraordinary ability to gather pieces we thought did not belong and reveal that He can still produce something meaningful from them.
Purpose Is Not Competition
One of the quickest ways to become confused about your assignment is to spend too much time studying everybody else’s.
Galatians 6:4 says:
“But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another.”
Another woman’s progress does not diminish your purpose.
If she succeeds, you have not failed.
If her platform grows, Heaven has not run out of space.
If she discovers her assignment before you fully understand yours, God has not forgotten your address.
We are different parts of one body. First Corinthians 12 teaches us that the body needs different members because no single member carries everything. The eye does not need to become the hand in order to prove that it matters.
There is freedom in accepting that you do not have to become every kind of woman.
You need to become faithful with the grace God has placed upon your life.
Purpose Is Found in Relationship
Perhaps the deepest truth about purpose is that purpose is not first a destination. It flows from relationship with God.
Jesus said in John 15:5, “He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit.”
Fruit comes from abiding.
That means the woman who wants to understand why she is here should remain close to the One who knows why she is here.
Purpose becomes dangerous when separated from intimacy because we can begin loving the assignment more than the One who assigned it. We become so concerned about doing something significant for God that we stop enjoying God Himself.
Your purpose should flow from Him, not replace Him.
As you walk with God, He will reveal more. Some things will become clear through prayer. Others will become clear through serving, trying, learning and even discovering what does not fit. You do not need to understand everything today.
Begin with what you know.
Be faithful where you are.
Develop what God has placed within you.
Serve the people in front of you.
Obey the instruction you already have.
Purpose is often discovered one faithful yes at a time.
You are not here accidentally. Your life carries divine intention, and there are good works God has prepared for you to walk in. They may take you into rooms you never imagined, or they may cause you to recognise the eternal significance of rooms you are already standing in.
Either way, do not spend your life trying to become another woman.
God already has her.
He created you.
Prayer
Father, thank You that my life is not random and that I am Your workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works. Open my eyes to Your intention for my life and deliver me from comparison, competition and the pressure to imitate another woman’s assignment. Show me what You have placed within me and what You are asking of me in this season. Redeem my experiences, develop my character and teach me to walk faithfully in the good works You have prepared. Above everything I do for You, keep my heart close to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Today’s Declaration
I am God’s workmanship, created intentionally in Christ Jesus for divine purpose. My life is not an accident, and I do not need another woman’s assignment to validate mine. I will not measure significance by visibility or compare my journey with someone else’s. I will walk with God, develop what He has placed within me and obey Him one step at a time. My gifts, experiences and opportunities can serve His purpose. I was created intentionally, and my obedience matters. I am a Wonder Model Woman.
